About
After volunteering in retirement homes, Sound of Life was established in 2024 by students Nieve Xiao and Kate Huang to promote mental wellness and youth engagement within the community. Sound of Life emphasizes the importance of music for various health conditions such as dementia and allows intergenerational learning and connection between diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Mission
Our mission is to nurture the influence of the instinctual responses associated with music. We believe that fostering the talent and passions of young musicians throughout the community can enlighten the lives and experiences of all generations. Our final goal is to run forms of music therapy with this organization to reduce stress, manage dementia, and other health issues. Through the lens of music, we hope to bring genuine, compassionate, and deep musical connections across the community!

Values
Sound of Life is shaped by core values that help us stay connected to our community and further enrich our connections.
Care
We believe that everyone deserves a good quality of life and proper care of their wellbeing.
Integrity & Empathy
We value and strive for respect, honesty and transparent communication, and we will hold ourselves accountable for providing a respectful and genuine program during every event.
Engagement
We promote youth engagement and involvement within the community to make an impact.
Generosity
We acknowledge that it is a privilege for retirement homes to host us and for the student musicians to dedicate their time and practice to perform with us. We value that with these commitments, we will reciprocate by providing snacks to give back to the performers and staff.
Creativity
We are passionate about the creative interpretation of music and innovative composition. The sky is the limit to what one could perform!
Intergenerational Learning
We believe that education lies with every opportunity, and integrating into public performing opportunities facilitates important communication skills and perseverance in creating a calm, collected, and comfortable environment for listeners and performers.
